
Senior Project Officers

The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is seeking four experienced Senior Project Officers (APS6 equivalent) to provide project support across a range of inflight and upcoming programs and projects. These roles will support areas including Intelligence Operations, Intelligence and Information Systems, National Police Checking Service, Corporate and Enabling Services.
The positions are based onsite in Canberra, ACT, with standard full-time hours of 40 per week. Flexible work arrangements may be considered based on operational and delivery requirements, however, some roles will require full onsite attendance due to the sensitive nature of projects.
Key Skills and Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Officer providing support on ICT and/or corporate projects.
- Experience in small to medium sized Federal Government agencies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with technical teams, project members, and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and tasks, including project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and reporting.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and experience coordinating end-to-end federal government procurement activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various project delivery methodologies, including Prince2, MSP, Agile, SAFe, and hybrid approaches.
- High degree of resilience and flexibility, with the ability to perform under pressure in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Experience providing Secretariat support for Working Groups and Steering Committees.
- Experience working on projects within an Intelligence environment is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and SharePoint.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate a range of program/project activities, including production, delivery, and management of project schedules, budgets, reporting, and artefacts.
- Identify and manage project changes in accordance with established processes and standards.
- Act as the point of contact for stakeholders, building effective relationships and ensuring clear communication.
- Ensure adherence to project tools, templates, and frameworks across multiple methodologies.
- Provide a range of administrative and project/program support services, including Secretariat services for committees and governance groups.
- Assist the Project Manager and/or Enterprise Portfolio Management Office with delivery of assigned project tasks.
- Support knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team to achieve project outcomes.
Working Arrangements
- Location: Canberra, ACT – onsite
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Flexible Work: Considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on operational requirements
Security Clearance
- Minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance required.
Period of Engagement
- Estimated Start Date: Monday, 01 December 2025
- Initial Contract Duration: 12 months
- Extension Term: 12 months, with up to 2 extensions possible
Essential Criteria
- Project Administration (20%) – Minimum 5 years' experience supporting ICT projects, including monitoring, tracking, reporting deliverables, and managing schedules, costs, and quality metrics.
- Stakeholder Engagement (20%) – Well-developed skills to communicate effectively and build relationships with technical professionals, team members, and stakeholders.
- Project Methodology (20%) – Experience delivering projects using Prince2, MSP, Agile, SAFe, or hybrid methodologies; ensures adherence to tools, templates, and processes.
- Project/Program Support (20%) – Ability to provide administrative support to facilitate delivery, including Secretariat services.
- Technical Skills (20%) – Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams and SharePoint.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with Agile project delivery and tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Experience or qualifications in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or Scrum Master.
- Experience working in a small to medium sized Federal Government agency.
- Experience within an Intelligence agency.
