Overview

Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer at Australian Red Cross Lifeblood – 12-month fixed-term position with WFH flexibility; location flexible. Salary circa $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.

About the role

The Infrastructure/Cloud Engineer ensures Lifeblood's hybrid IT infrastructure (both on-premise and cloud) meets the highest standards of availability, stability and security.

As part of the Infrastructure team, you'll design, deploy, operate, automate, migrate and scale software systems across cloud and on-prem environments. You'll apply expertise in security, networking, operating systems and SRE, using automation, Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD to solve complex challenges. You'll also act as a trusted advisor, working with stakeholders and vendors, and championing the adoption of cloud and DevOps practices across Lifeblood.

The role emphasizes security, best practice, code quality and continuous learning. You'll work in an agile environment, exploring new technologies through proofs-of-concepts, while helping shape Lifeblood's technology roadmap. Participation in an on-call roster is required to support critical cloud platforms outside business hours, with flexibility to take on other duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, operate, automate, migrate and scale software systems across cloud and on-prem environments at Lifeblood
  • Worked within Lifeblood's hybrid IT infrastructure to ensure availability, stability and security
  • Apply security, networking, operating systems and SRE expertise using automation, Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and vendors; champion cloud and DevOps practices
  • Participate in on-call roster to support critical cloud platforms
Qualifications
  • Experience in Windows and Linux OS systems
  • Experience in cloud/datacentre hybrid environments
  • Strong experience in AWS/Azure cloud platform services and networking
  • Provision and configure cloud-based resources to manage complex application environments
  • Experience in application migration to the Cloud, including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions
  • Experienced with DevOps practices, specifically CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Experience in initial setup activities, including infrastructure, connectivity, security policies, configuration management and DevOps
  • Knowledge of security and IAM (Identity and Access Management)
  • Skills to implement and manage orchestration tools and automation of the full technical stack
  • Fluent in Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, planning, and ability to exercise judgement to make decisions
  • Outcome-focused with strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
