The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, and Paediatric Services within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for Paediatric patients in Tasmania. Paediatric Services crosses both local inpatient, local outpatient and Statewide services that provide care and support to children and young people under 18. Paediatric Services works closely with other members of the Women's and Children's Services Hospitals South team.

The Role:

The Nurse Unit Manager - Paediatric Services:

  • Provides leadership to inpatient and outpatient Paediatric Services.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions within Paediatric Services; and
  • Leads and manages the coordination of overall patient care and is responsible for managing the allocated human, material and financial resources for service delivery within Paediatric Services.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and experience in Paediatric Services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary nursing management practice, including: clinical governance; clinical risk management; evidenced based practice; research; clinical standards; ethics; and legislation.
  • Leadership skills – Individuals will demonstrate capability to promote a shared vision and purpose, and positively influence others (internally and externally) to ensure optimal client outcomes and build a culture of success, commitment and active contribution by all staff within the practice area.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working up to 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possibleuntil 20 November 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:$130,203 to $136,295 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
