Working closely with our Head of Animation, Animation Supervisors and fellow Animators, you will be responsible for creating believable animation with convincing performances and motion. You will have the ability to complete digi-double, creature, character or rigid body animation. Delivering work to strict deadlines, you will be aware of project schedules and work hard to achieve these goals, and produce content within the framework of the DNEG pipeline.

Responsibilities
  • Create believable animation with convincing performances and motion for digi-doubles, creatures, characters or rigid bodies within the DNEG pipeline.
  • Meet project deadlines and work within schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Animation, Animation Supervisors and fellow Animators.
  • Support the Leads and Supervisors and mentor junior artists where applicable.
  • Contribute to the pipeline and propose improvements and methodologies to benefit the department.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years CG animation experience within high end live action VFX feature films.
  • Ability to solve visual and analytical problems in 3D space and interpret 3D layouts and form.
  • Thorough knowledge of Maya.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and predicting potential problems with assigned tasks and cross-department issues.
  • Ability to work with Leads and Supervisors and mentor junior artists.
  • Experience contributing to a pipeline and bringing improvements to the team.
  • Showreel demonstrating high-end VFX animation work, including hero creatures, hero digi-doubles and advanced performance with flying, bipedal and motion capture elements.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with realistic and stylised facial animation.
  • Tool development using Python or MEL.
  • Experience shooting motion capture material using mocap suits.

2 year contract

The ideal candidate must have the right to work in Australia.

Workplace Flexibility & Location

We believe great work happens through connection and collaboration — we value time in the office. For this role, candidates should be available to work from the office at least two days per week in Sydney. If not currently based in Sydney, relocation will be required to be eligible. We support a hybrid work environment and in-person collaboration.
