Firbank Grammar School is seeking an exceptional educator to lead professional learning and instructional development across our Senior School in the newly created role of Head of Professional Practice. This is a unique opportunity to shape and elevate teaching excellence within a vibrant and future-focused learning community.

The Head of Professional Practice plays a critical role in building a culture of pedagogical excellence by coaching and mentoring teachers, supporting curriculum innovation, and leading strategic professional learning initiatives. Central to this position is the implementation of Firbank's 7 Principles to continuously enhance teaching and learning across the School.

We are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking professional with a passion for education and a proven ability to influence practice through evidence-informed coaching, collaboration, and leadership.

This position of responsibility (POR) has 10 periods (per cycle) time release, and a monetary allowance of $9,800, plus a teaching load at our Senior Campus. The Head of Professional Practice POR will be tenured for three years, at such time, if the incumbent did not continue in the role, they would remain as an ongoing teacher at Firbank Grammar.

Provide pedagogical leadership aligned with the School's teaching and learning strategy.

Facilitate high-impact coaching and mentoring programs that support teacher growth.

Design and lead professional learning initiatives that promote a shared vision of teaching excellence.

Collaborate with academic leaders to embed best practice in curriculum delivery and assessment.

Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation across departments.

Integrate student voice into professional learning and practice.

Promote Firbank's educational leadership through professional networks and publications.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Demonstrated experience in instructional coaching and professional development.

A deep understanding of current pedagogical theory and its practical classroom application.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and inspire others.

Experience working in partnership with tertiary institutions or educational research bodies.

A collaborative mindset and the ability to lead change in a dynamic school environment.

A recognised teaching qualification and current VIT registration.

Postgraduate qualifications in education will be highly regarded.
