ScaleUp is partnering with a global trading firm with serious tech chops. Their Sydney team is growing, and we're looking for Python Developers to help them build next-level trading infrastructure.

You'll join the trading systems team and be hands-on with the tools that drive real-time decision-making. You'll work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to design and maintain analytical platforms, data pipelines, and performance-critical applications that process massive volumes of market data.

This isn't just about writing clean code, it's about building systems that can handle high throughput, low latency, and constantly shifting conditions in global markets.

Your day-to-day will involve tackling performance bottlenecks, refining existing tools, and building new systems from scratch. Whether it's optimizing data flows or engineering solutions for complex trading strategies, your work will directly impact how effectively the firm competes in the market.

You'll build and optimize high-performance trading apps used directly by expert traders—no middle layers, no red tape. Tackle real-time problems in low latency, high-frequency environments. We're talking complex data, and make a real impact.

Collaborate with traders, quants, and devs who are all about solving problems.

The Details

• The role is based in Sydney CBD, right near the harbour and is in the office full-time not working from home; however, it is very flexible around start and finish times.
• Insane offices, great view, facilities, with chef catered food, end of trip facilities and near transport, cafes & shops.
• Mid-level Python Engineer ideally you will have about 3 - 8 years worth of experience and have worked in a startup/scaleup environment, banking, gaming or other finance domains
• $150,000 - $180,000 + super + bonus + benefits
• People stay in this business for a long time, average tenure is around 5 years. We also look for people who value longevity in developing their knowledge and craft within roles - i.e. you aren't a job hopper.
• Python, Linux, Pandas, NumPy, fast data pipelines, and performance tuning
• Software Engineering/Comp. Sci. Degree or something similar Physics, Maths, Statistics, Economics etc.
• Experience in trading systems or financial data? Not needed but is a big bonus.
