Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia Uniting Full time
Overview

Village Manager – Part-Time (3 days per week). Location: support 4 retirement living villages — Hamilton, Mayfield, Caves Beach, and Belmont North. Shape safe, supported, and welcoming retirement living with Uniting. At Uniting, we're proud to support older Australians to live independently, safely, and with dignity. We're looking for a calm, organised, and people-focused Village Manager to join our team on a part-time basis, 3 days per week.

This is a rewarding, community-facing role supporting the wellbeing and satisfaction of residents – and helping create a harmonious, well-run and welcoming village environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Providing respectful, person-centred service to Retirement Village contract holders.
  • Supporting residents' wellbeing, independence, and sense of connection.
  • Liaising with the Asset and Housing teams to coordinate maintenance and refurbishment works.
  • Managing records, correspondence, and reporting using Uniting systems.
  • Helping foster an inclusive, respectful, and harmonious village culture.
  • Participating in budget planning and supporting annual meetings with residents.
What You'll Need to Succeed

We're looking for someone who brings the right attitude, presence and care to this important role – formal qualifications and experience are helpful, but not essential. If you've worked in a retirement living, housing, or community-based environment – even in an administrative or support role – and you're ready to step up, we'd love to hear from you.

To Thrive as a Village Manager, You'll Need
  • A calm, level-headed, and professional approach – you're someone who brings harmony to a team and confidence to residents.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills – you keep things running smoothly, even when juggling competing demands.
  • Great communication and conflict resolution skills – you listen deeply, act respectfully, and resolve concerns with compassion and fairness.
  • A warm, welcoming personality with a genuine desire to support older people to live well and independently.
  • A willingness to learn – we'll provide training and support to help you succeed, and to build on your existing experience.
  • Own vehicle required – generous mileage reimbursement.

Experience in retirement living, aged care, housing, or community services will be well regarded, but is not essential if you bring a commitment to doing the role well.

What's On Offer
  • A deeply rewarding, community-focused leadership role.
  • Competitive salary and access to NFP salary packaging – take home more of what you earn.
  • Ongoing training, development, and support from a values-led organisation.
  • The opportunity to lead real change in housing access and equity for older Australians.
Your Impact

In this role, you'll directly enhance the well-being of our residents – helping them live with confidence, comfort, and choice in their later years. You'll also be a key player in Uniting's long-term housing strategy, ensuring the success of our transition to a rental model that better serves the community.

Ready to shape the future of retirement living?

Please include a brief cover letter telling us why this role speaks to you, and how your skills or experience (formal or informal) would make you a great fit. Apply today to join a trusted, progressive organisation with a legacy of care, advocacy, and action.

For all enquiries, please contact Louise via email at mmassie@uniting.org

  • A rewarding career with a leading human services organisation.
  • Up to $18,550 NFP salary packaging available.
  • Access to our U rewards program with exclusive discounts.
  • Flexible work hours for work-life balance.
  • Affordable access to Fitness Passport — discounted gym memberships to support your best life.
  • A supportive and inclusive and collaborative work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth.
