About the role

Reporting to the State Manager, this role is an integral part of the VIC operations team whose responsibility is to achieve key business objectives whilst delivering safe, timely and cost-efficient production and delivery of ferrous and non-ferrous materials to meet our customer promise.

The role's key functional responsibilities are focused towards the maximisation of returns to the business by leading implementation of Transport and Logistics strategies / plans and project initiatives for the VIC Recycling Business, while ensuring consistency and alignment with the overall business plan.

You will develop, coach and champion a continuous improvement culture ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of the transport and logistics function across all VIC Recycling sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Development and execution of the transport planning and scheduling process in conjunction with the Trading and Operational teams
  • Management of the Transport Team
  • Capacity and Operational planning
  • Carrier and fleet performance management
  • Transport systems implementation, monitoring and governance to ensure both safety and customer compliance
  • Proactively identify and implement transport initiatives / solutions to ensure timely, reliable, cost effective and safe transport of all products to and from all InfraBuild Recycling customers / suppliers
  • Ensure continuous improvement of Waste Edge system throughout the VIC business

We are seeking a safety focused leader with strong influencing and communication skills and a passion for delivering on time, within budget and to a high standard.

Foundations required to be successful

  • 5+ years of logistics management experience, ideally in a transport planning environment
  • Experience in building and leading teams in a complex, fast paced environment
  • Experience in both fleet and carrier management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of allocating various vehicle types, capacity, specifications, load configuration and load restraint
  • Advanced stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of SAP, Weighbridge and Waste Edge system would be an advantage
  • Proven capability in problem solving and process improvement with a passion for outcomes
