About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial, and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunals, Judicial College, and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
ChCV
The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) is a specialist court that hears and determines cases in two divisions: the Family Division, which hears cases involving the care and protection of Victorian children at risk of harm, and the Criminal Division, which hears criminal charges against children aged 10-17 years.
As a dedicated court, we focus solely on responding to the particular needs of children, young people, and their families. This guides our approach to judicial, dispute resolution, registry, and support services, as well as our physical court environment.
We apply the law fairly in cases involving children and young people, working closely with youth justice, legal services, child protection, and community-based services to address children's needs and promote community safety.
About The Role
The ChCV In-Court Registrars provide dedicated, quality judicial support to judicial officers. They perform administrative tasks, including in-court duties, client contact inquiries, and back-office responsibilities.
They facilitate courtroom processes, support Judicial Officers in court, assist in preparing court files, manage files proactively, and process documents according to procedures, practices, and legislation.
You Will Be Required To
- Provide authoritative advice and information on court procedures and legislation to stakeholders including legal practitioners, police, youth justice officers, government agencies, clients, and the public.
- Assist with developing, evaluating, and implementing policies and procedures.
- Receive and process court documents efficiently and promptly.
- Operate relevant computer systems, including case-management systems, ensuring accurate and secure information capture.
- Prepare and submit professional reports, correspondence, and documentation, including sensitive information.
Positions Available: 1 fixed-term role until 30 June 2027 and 1 ongoing role.
