Aurizon has an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the Gladstone team. The operations leaders play a major role in the day-to-day running of Aurizon's rail operations. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to enable the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of train services to our customers. This role will see you champion a safety and leadership culture which promotes, creates, and maintains a safe environment for our employees.

The roster for this role consists of shifts up to 12 hours over days, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

About the role :
  • Lead a team of train crew & operational staff
  • Set and monitor performance standards and behavioral standards to build a high-performance team
  • Contribute to a learning environment by spending time in the field engaging with crew
  • Ensure adherence to optimal driving methodologies by reviewing downloads and providing feedback
  • Collaborate with rostering and scheduling teams to manage training, annual leave, and attendance levels
  • Manage performance and disciplinary matters if required
  • Take accountability for incident investigations within the area of responsibility and conduct detailed investigation reports
  • Analyze and interpret data to report and respond to service delivery demands throughout the day of operation
About you :
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, ideally in a logistics or heavy industry environment
  • Strong commitment to safety and ability to influence employees to make safe choices
  • Proven frontline leadership skills including task assignment, problem solving, and performance management
  • Effective at engaging team members, establishing relationships, and setting clear direction
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize conflicting tasks for optimal outcomes
  • Ability to work on a 24/7 shift roster
