Role

Consultant/Specialist Interventional Cardiologist – join a dedicated team in a regional coastal location.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist care to public and private patients.
  • Be involved in research and quality improvement activities, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • Provide specialist advice to inpatient units as required.
Scope and Department

The cardiology department serves a catchment population of about a quarter of a million and provides 24/7 cardiac services. It currently has a team of 7 cardiologists and three advanced trainees, with plans for expansion including two state-of-the-art catheterisation labs and a stand-alone department as part of a master plan. The cardiac catheterisation lab is well established with experienced medical and nursing staff and performs a high volume of procedures, including over 2000 procedures and more than 500 coronary angioplasties annually.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Base rate up to $310,389 per annum, pro rata, plus 11% superannuation and access to salary packaging.
  • Possible allowances payable on a salaried incremental basis (varies by eligibility):
  • Fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance up to $25,758 per annum, pro rata.
  • Communication allowance of $1,948 per annum, pro rata.
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 per annum, pro rata.
  • On-call allowance based on base salary.
  • Relocation allowance and other allowances per current Award.
  • Subject to PPS approval, 35% of base salary plus on-call may be paid from the Private Patient Scheme (PPS); if not admitted to PPS, 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary may be paid.
The Hospital

A General Public Hospital with 300 beds providing acute care facilities. It is an accredited teaching hospital with partnerships with the University Clinical School and the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Eligibility
