SAP Payroll Analyst

• Temporary Full Time until 30 September 2026 with possibility of extension
• Clerk Grade 7/8, salary range $113,574 - $125,720 + super
• Parramatta location with hybrid working

Priority will be given to impacted & excess employees.

About the team

This newly established team's purpose is to support the delivery of the strategic roadmap to consolidate and harmonise shared services operations and systems across the NSW public sector.

Involving the consolidation of ERP systems and processes, IT service and incident management and travel and expense management, the program will lead to a better employee experience and enable more efficient sector mobility. Additionally, common, streamlined and efficient processes will allow our people to better focus on our customers.

The SAP Payroll Analyst will work in the team to deliver the new or improved solutions and processes into the business.

Key responsibilities:

Reporting to the HCM Delivery Manager - Government Shared Services, your key accountabilities will include:

• Payroll Configuration & Maintenance
  • Review SAP Payroll schemas, rules, and wage types.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax, superannuation, and labour laws.
  • Provide details on payroll calendars, pay periods, and off-cycle payments.
• Business Requirements Gathering
  • Work with HR and Finance stakeholders to understand payroll needs.
  • Review business requirements against SAP functional specifications.
  • Review and document taxonomies.
• Data mapping and Validation
  • Review source and target data field mapping and support the data team for clarifications
  • Build data value mapping tables to support data transformation
  • Validate data extracted, transformed and loaded
  • Work with business resources to review and validate the loaded data
• Testing & Validation
  • Develop test scenarios and scripts to meet business rqeuirements.
  • Conduct and support integration testing, Parallel Payroll Testing (PPRTs) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Validate payroll results and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Validate leave accruals and results and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Review payroll and leave provisions and postings to finance
• Manage risks and issues
• Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues and system errors during hypercare.
• Documentation & Training
  • Support the creation/update of functional documentation and user guides.
• Participate in SAP upgrades, patches, and enhancement in the project landscape.
• Assess impact of changes on payroll processes and ensure smooth transitions.
• Compliance & Audits
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll data and reports.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with audit requirements.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of SAP payroll and HCM functionality
• Knowledge of public sector payroll and time awards
• Knowledge of organisation structures, design principles and impacts on payroll and workflows
• Good understanding of testing and data migration methodologies
• Good knowledge of MS Excel
• Capability to perform payroll and leave reconciliations and investigate issues
• Capability to perform data mapping, data reconciliations and investigate issues
• Capability to perform structured testing and support end users in user acceptance testing
