- Relocation allowances and remote airfare allowance to fly home at times.

- Permanent role located on Thursday Island, off Cape York.
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, this key position provides specialist advice to management and staff on Workplace Health and Safety matters to ensure all Council safety requirements are understood and implemented.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player working proactively in a busy environment, capable of working autonomously as well as part of a team.
About you:- Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, Codes of Practice, and relevant WHS guidelines and standards.
- Understanding of safety management systems and their implementation in the workplace.
- High-level interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good understanding of the Local Government legislative framework.
- Knowledge of Ailan Kastom and traditional languages (highly regarded).
- Ability to communicate professionally, calmly, and effectively, especially when dealing with sensitive matters such as public complaints or distressed individuals.
- Completion of tertiary WHS qualifications, e.g., minimum Cert IV WHS.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in WHS roles.
