Reporting to the HST Superintendent, you will assist and support the Health and Safety function in the implementation, coordination and effectiveness of all functional health and safety issues at the mine.Key Responsibilities IncludeProviding advice and assistance to frontline leaders and workers regarding risk and hazard managementMaintaining the site's SHMS including the development of Standard Operating Procedures and processes and ensuring legislative complianceLeading safety investigations (including ICAM), preparing reports and recommendations and implementation of corrective and preventative actionsFacilitation of Risk Assessments and mentoring of the risk assessment process to front line and middle management, contributing to the identification, elimination and control of workplace hazardsIdentification of safety issues and problems ensuring corrective action is taken and monitoredPreparation, participation and facilitation of Functional Audits (CRM, SHMS)Conducting workplace inspections, critical control observations and field leadership activities and providing guidance and coaching on improving safety practicesFacilitating Injury Management and Workplace Rehabilitation for injured workers in consultation with medical practitionersCoordinating occupational hygiene monitoring / projects / auditsCommunicating to employees on site performance as well as broader corporate departments in regard to safety issuesMentoring, coaching and developing Safety Advisors in the performance of their rolesSupporting SSE, contract owners, contractors and suppliers with meeting their obligations under the Contractor Management System and SHMSLeading continuous improvement activities and providing knowledge to improve the Contractor Management SystemAuditing of the Contractor Management System and implementation of improvement plansAbout YouFormal Health & Safety qualifications in WHS / Risk / Hygiene (Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety or a related qualification minimum)RIIFIS402 (G2)S1-S3 (Supervisor competencies)Rehabilitation and Return to Work competencyIncident Investigation Qualification (ICAM Facilitator)Lead Auditor qualification (RABQSA or Diploma of Quality Auditing) - desirable5+ years' experience in a Health & Safety position within a high risk / heavy work industry (Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Manufacturing)Understanding of Risk Management practices, Incident Investigation and analysis techniques, and SHMS development and implementationStrong understanding of health and safety regulations within the mining industry will be highly regardedPositive influencer with ability to engage with people from multi culturesEnergetic with a professional desire to improve H&S at a front-line levelWorking At BUMABUMA Australia is a people focused business, with a strong emphasis on safety, training, development and continuous improvement.

We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant.
The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations.
