The Product division is responsible for key activities such as product design, pricing, and underwriting of Auto & General's insurance products.
The Head of Product Risk & Governance is a vital leadership role tasked with establishing and maturing the division's risk management framework.
Acting as the risk enabler for the 'first line of defence', this role leads a team of Line 1 Risk professionals supporting risk identification, assessment, control, monitoring, and reporting.
The team manages product-related customer remediations and ensures adherence to Auto & General's risk appetite, policies, and APRA standards.
The role collaborates across the division to foster a strong risk culture, provide risk mitigation guidance, and drive continuous improvement in risk and governance matters.
Experience required: Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.10+ years' senior leadership experience in financial services, preferably general insurance.
Leadership experience of 4-5+ years in risk management within a comparable environment.
Ability to lead, engage, and develop teams, with understanding of regulatory and industry trends in Australia.
Self-motivated with the capacity to manage competing priorities autonomously.
Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
Position Accountabilities: Champion and embed the Three Lines of Defence model, leading risk assessments and governance processes.
Partner with division leaders to identify and assess emerging risks, analyzing impacts on strategy and operations.
Guide incident and issue management, supporting effective ownership and resolution.
Support control effectiveness monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, audits, and standards.
Drive timely resolution of audit findings and regulatory observations.
Oversee customer remediation activities in line with Regulatory Guide 277.
Serve as the primary risk liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Cultivate a risk-aware culture and uplift risk capabilities within the division.
