An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its leadership team and now hiring a Lead Project Manager / Programs Lead to oversee delivery of complex engineering programs in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you will lead the company's project management function, coordinating project managers, controllers, schedulers, and compliance staff to ensure delivery across multiple defence and industrial programs.
You will report directly to the Managing Director, providing oversight and guidance to ensure projects are executed to scope, schedule, and compliance standards.
The position offers the opportunity to shape program delivery frameworks, support project managers, and in future take ownership of a major program.
This is a full-time, Adelaide-based role with excellent access to public transport and parking.
Full relocation is required for interstate candidates; cost assistance is provided.
Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction to project managers, controllers, schedulers, and compliance staff.
Oversee delivery of multiple projects and ensure alignment with program objectives.
Develop, implement, and monitor program delivery frameworks and processes.
Support project managers in achieving scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
Act as a key interface with executive leadership and stakeholders.
Drive agility and continuous improvement in project delivery within a small, high-paced organisation.
Requirements: Proven experience in project or program management within defence, aerospace, or high-technology sectors.
Strong leadership skills with experience guiding multidisciplinary project teams.
Solid knowledge of project governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
Ability to coordinate complex programs across multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Must be an Australian citizen.
Desirable but not essential: Formal project management certification (PMBOK, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
Experience with scheduling and project control tools.
