John Butler Primary College (PC), catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, is in the northern suburb of Butler.
Opening in 2014, the college is of a modern and contemporary design, including purpose-built specialist facilities for students with disability, to create a positive and supportive learning environment in which all students can thrive.
The innovative college model, which integrates a regular Primary Education Program and a dedicated Education Support Program for students with disability within one school, provides an inclusive and tailored learning experience to support students of all abilities to achieve their personal best.
Within the John Butler PC one-school model, suitable applicants may be asked to work flexibly across the college to support the learning of students in the regular primary and the education support programs.
The Role
Suitable applicants should provide literacy, numeracy and behavioural support and high-level personal care and activities of daily living for students with mild to severe disability and/or additional needs.
Suitable applicants will ideally be highly knowledgeable and experienced in working with students with disability, including those with physical, cognitive, social, and emotional, behavioural, and additional learning needs.
We are preferably seeking applicants with knowledge and experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Literacy and Numeracy support, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Team Teach, positive handling, peg feeding, suctioning, seizure training, changing, hoisting, and/or delivering therapy programs such as hydrotherapy.
Professional learning is also available to staff in these areas.

A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF.
Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
