Anglicare Tasmania is seeking a full-time Policy and Advocacy Officer (12-month maternity relief), based in Hobart CBD.
Part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
This position is due to start early November.
About the Role:
The Policy and Advocacy Officer position will contribute to the work of the Social Action and Research Centre, with a focus on the development and communication of evidence-informed policy recommendations, and assisting with the development and implementation of Anglicare's advocacy and campaign strategies.
You will:
Monitor and analyse State and Federal public policy development processes in order to provide advice and prepare materials as part of Anglicare Tasmania's involvement in these processes.
Undertake consultations with Anglicare employees and the wider sector in order to identify issues, gaps in services, and emerging needs.
Contribute to Anglicare's advocacy to influence public policy, programs, practice and community attitudes and understanding.
Evidence and evaluate the impact of your work in the spirit of continuous improvement.
Contribute to the delivery of the SARC Operational Plan and related workplans.
The successful applicant will possess demonstrable competency, knowledge, understanding and/or skills in the following areas:
Understanding of and demonstrated commitment to social justice principles and an ability to apply these principles to policy development and advocacy.
Relevant experience in policy analysis, development and evaluation.
Demonstrated skills in delivering impactful advocacy.
High level oral and written communication skills, including experience in clear and targeted report writing, verbal briefings and other presentations.
Proven project management skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
Demonstrated knowledge or experience of Tasmanian political structures and the community services industry, and social policy issues in Tasmania and nationally.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and cooperatively within a team in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

The successful applicant will be required to:
provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check
present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type National Police Check (no older than 12 months);
provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
provide a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical:
provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver Licence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
