About the role AEMO's Market Management group manages metering, settlement, and prudential functions for gas and electricity markets across the NEM, WEM, and east coast gas.
As part of the Operations division, the Market Management team develops and operates systems and processes to receive and validate meter data, generate settlement statements, settle markets, and monitor prudential positions.
The team also supports major energy market reform initiatives.
What you will be doing The Senior Commercial / Regulatory Analyst in the Prudentials team will be responsible for: Consulting with stakeholders and market participants to influence process design and improve operational tools for the Prudentials function.
Writing reports and supporting regulatory submissions and market consultations.
Representing AEMO positions at industry forums.
Ensuring internal processes align with market rules and are executed according to production cycles.
Supporting industry reform projects through interpretation of market rules and system/process design.
Effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and industry participants are essential, especially regarding prudentials and rule-based queries.
What you will bring to the role A minimum of a relevant degree in economics, commerce, finance, or information systems.
Relevant experience in the energy industry, including commercial, regulatory, or legal roles, preferably within utilities.
Strong written interpretation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and rule inputs effectively.
Experience in legal, compliance, and rules-based environments.
Knowledge of energy market structures such as NEM, WEM, or gas markets, with familiarity with settlement or prudentials processes as an advantage.
You should be a confident communicator, proactive learner, committed to operational excellence, and passionate about collaborative problem solving within a high-performing team.
