Your role
Homes NSW is seeking a skilled Media Advisor to join our Public Affairs and Engagement team on a part-time basis for a 12-month contract.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong media experience—whether from a newsroom or media management background—who thrives in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.
You'll be part of a passionate and highly capable media team, helping to shape and deliver strategic media communications that support Homes NSW's public engagement and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver proactive media materials including strategies, releases, statements, and mitigation plans.
Manage reactive media enquiries and issues, preparing timely and accurate responses.
Coordinate media event logistics to ensure strategic objectives are met.
Create and edit content for various channels including media packs, social media, websites, and internal communications.
Monitor media trends and provide insights and recommendations to manage reputational risks.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and service providers to deliver high-quality, audience-relevant communications.
Provide support across the broader media and communications team.

What we're looking for
Proven experience in a newsroom or media management environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Availability for occasional on-call and out-of-hours work, including participation in a rotating on-call roster (typically one week every 4–5 weeks).
Willingness to travel for media events and content capture.
Flexibility to work from home, with regular online meetings and at least two days per week in the office or as required for press events.
