Job DescriptionThe Lead Electrical Engineer will serve as the single point of contact for design, development, integration, and validation of electrical systems for nominated projects.
This role requires technical authority, strong leadership, and the ability to manage complex engineering deliverables from concept through to production, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and integration of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and communication networks for automotive, defence, and rail applications.
Act as the technical authority for electrical engineering, ensuring compliance with relevant industry and regulatory standards.
Oversee requirements capture, verification & validation (V&V) activities across all project phases.
Manage electrical engineering work packages, schedules, budgets, and technical risks.
Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Conduct design reviews, inspections, and test readiness assessments.
Ensure all engineering activities align with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Support business development activities, including technical proposals and client engagement.
QualificationsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Proven track record delivering complex electrical systems for automotive, defence, rail industries or relevant industries.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the area of electrical engineering, as required by the 'Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019' Strong knowledge of relevant technical standards Experience in systems engineering and structured V&V processes.
Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools for electrical design (e.g., EPLAN, Auto CAD Electrical, NX Electrical or equivalent).
Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or NV1).
