As we continue to grow, we are strengthening our commercial management capability to ensure every project we deliver is profitable, efficient, and well-managed from a financial perspective.
The Role We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial management of all projects across the business.
This pivotal role will ensure accurate invoicing, timely collation of timesheet data, rigorous change management, and robust financial oversight of project performance.
You will work closely with our engineering technical team, Lead Engineer, Project Manager, and Company Associates to ensure every project is financially on track.
You will also collaborate with the Business Development team to provide informed feedback on bid pricing and budget adequacy, helping to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of our proposals.
Key Responsibilities Oversee all project commercial management functions across the business Manage and process invoicing for all projects in a timely manner Collate and verify timesheet data for project reporting and billing Lead financial change management, including development of variations and incorporation into project budgets Review each project's financial performance against forecast and budget Identify and flag risks to project profitability and recommend corrective actions Collaborate with the Business Development team on bid pricing and budget adequacy Provide financial insight to improve cost tracking, reporting, and forecasting processes Ensure commercial practices comply with company policies and client requirements You'll Bring5+ years' experience in a commercial management role within engineering, construction, or professional services Strong knowledge of project financial control, change management, and budget tracking Proficiency with financial and project management tools (experience with Wrike or similar is a plus)Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across technical, delivery, and business development teams Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment A proactive, solution-oriented mindset Why Join FJA?Role hours can be discussed with each candidate between 25-38 hours per week Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid Work-from-home friendly culture Profit share of up to 10% of your total salary package, paid in two instalments each year Associate program for long-serving team members offering additional profit share opportunities Be a key part of the leadership team shaping the commercial health of the business Supportive, values-led culture with a strong focus on delivery excellence Autonomy, trust, and opportunities for growth Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Part-time Job function Job function Sales and Business Development Industries Civil Engineering Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at FJA by 2x Get notified about new Commercial Manager jobs in St Leonards, New South Wales, Australia.
