Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, Member Experience, this role leads our Line 1 Compliance Advisory team, helping all divisions across the bank meet their regulatory obligations and manage compliance risks.
You will guide the business with expert advice on financial services and credit laws, support compliance assessments, monitor risks and incidents, and ensure we stay aligned with internal policies and values.
This is a key role that helps the bank do the right thing.

Key responsibilities include: Effective leadership of the Line 1 Compliance Advisory team, providing appropriate training, support and team engagement to ensure compliance and strategic objectives are met.
Maintain continuous improvement and compliance knowledge across the team.
Work with Line 1 and Line 2 senior leadership to implement People First Bank compliance strategic objectives as per the Compliance Risk Management Framework (CRMF), including the sustainable embedment of roles and responsibilities across 3 LOD.
Assist Reform/Obligation Owners in ensuring regulatory changes are implemented in a compliant manner, including the review of policies, procedures, system changes, training, assess impact on the risk profile, and implementation of controls.
Manage the triage of incidents, identifying compliance related incidents and potentially reportable situations, as part of the Incident and Issue Management Procedure.
Location: Ideally, we are seeking applicants based in Adelaide or Brisbane but willconsider applications from all locations for this role.

About you: Our ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of Line 1 compliance and/or risk, with solid experience in retail banking or a recent background in financial services.
You are someone who can confidently balance hands-on technical compliance work with the strategic thinking needed to lead and embed compliance management across the organisation.
You have a strong grasp of relevant regulatory obligations and can provide practical and pragmatic risk-based advice that supports sound business decisions.
You are comfortable influencing and partnering with stakeholders at all levels, fostering a positive risk culture while knowing when to constructively challenge.
Your written communication and presentation skills are top-notch, enabling you to create and present detailed, insightful reports.
