You'll be a key member of a fast-paced, independent, ambitious team proficient across the full tech stack.
We focus on using and building technology to improve the online shopping experience, shipping software to production daily.
We're seeking a Head of Engineering to join our leadership team.
Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll shape Kogan.com 's technology future.
You'll oversee six cross-functional squads across web, data, mobile, and order fulfilment, with direct reports.
Your focus will be balancing fast delivery with solid engineering foundations, collaborating with product and delivery teams to create exceptional customer outcomes without compromising speed or stability.
As part of the leadership group, you'll drive key technical decisions, from architecture and tooling to best practices and scaling strategies.
You'll also cultivate a high-performance culture that empowers teams to own their work, move with clarity, and deliver impact.
Balancing business priorities with team growth, you'll ensure delivery stays sharp.
What you'll be doing: Drive architecture and development of the e-commerce platform.
Lead and coach engineering talent, supporting career growth, performance, and ongoing learning.
Champion a pragmatic engineering culture focused on high performance.
Drive AI adoption and experimentation across engineering teams to unlock smarter, faster ways of working.
Participate in technical discussions, troubleshooting, Dev Ops, and scaling efforts as needed.
Ensure cohesion across squads and effective teamwork.
Partner with product and delivery teams to prioritize, ship, and iterate quickly.
Balance business priorities with team health and agile practices.
Lead cost optimisation efforts, making smarter decisions across systems, resourcing, and architecture.
Guide the technical leadership group to shape and align on technical direction.
What you'll need: Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
Strong technical background with deep engagement in architectural decisions.
A delivery mindset, balancing quality, speed, and long-term planning.
Passion for growing people and building inclusive, high-trust teams.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and providing clarity.
Collaborative nature, working across functions to foster alignment.
