Data Governance Manager

We're looking for a senior data governance professional to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing uplift of data quality, governance and metadata practices for one our long term clients in financial services.
This is a hands on leadership role working across business and technical domains.
You'll be at the centre of strategic data initiatives - shaping policies, designing frameworks, building capability, and making data more usable, trustworthy and well-managed.
Location: Melbourne or Sydney (hybrid)Engagement: Six month contract with a view to extend beyond Start: August 2025 What you'll be working on: Designing and implementing an enterprise-wide Data Governance Framework — including policies, standards and operating models Leading the establishment of Data Governance Councils and Working Groups Developing and applying data quality rules, assessment procedures and remediation pathways Building and maintaining business glossaries, data dictionaries and product/source system catalogues Selecting and managing data governance & quality tooling Ensuring alignment with APRA CPG235 and other relevant compliance obligations Collaborating across Product, Tech, Client Partnerships and Enterprise stakeholders to uplift data capability Leading training, awareness, and culture change around data quality and governance What you'll bring to the team: Deep experience in data governance and quality management at enterprise scale Strong understanding of data architecture, metadata, and regulatory frameworks Confidence engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders and executives Ability to educate and uplift teams across business and technology divisions Experience selecting and implementing governance/quality software tools Strategic mindset, hands-on approach, and natural leadership style Background in maths, statistics, econometrics, IT or data science Why RUBIX?We're a Melbourne based data consultancy with a strong culture of care, curiosity and delivery.
