Add expected salary to your profile for insights Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is seeking a confident, experienced, and values-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team.
This pivotal role requires a strong background in financial management and reporting and will support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , Corporate Services Manager (CSM) , and Board of Directors in overseeing the strategic financial direction, administration, and growth of AAC and its subsidiary enterprises.
About the Role As CFO, you will lead the financial strategy and performance of AAC, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our operations and businesses.
You will play a key role in implementing strategic directives, managing risk, and guiding ethical resource allocation in alignment with AAC's mission and guiding principles.
The core functions of CFO are: Support CEO with management of organisational funding, budgets, grant acquittals and reporting functions.
Provide detailed reports to CEO and Board of organisational finances and sustainability of AAC enterprises and initiatives.
This includes presenting financial reports at Board meetings and providing strategic financial advice to CEO and Board.
Strategically lead the development and implementation of financial procedures and controls, ensuring rigorous oversight and adherence to best practices throughout the organization and associated enterprises.
Promote culturally safe financial practices and build financial literacy across the Corporation Other key duties include: presenting financial reports and data to the Board actively promoting financial literacy across the organisation facilitating budget implementation, auditing processes, grant acquittals ensuring compliance with internal and external financial regulations This position is offered on a full-time basis , however part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate, depending on skills, experience, and availability.

About You You are a seasoned financial leader who combines technical expertise with strategic insight and cultural awareness.

You will bring: Proven experience in senior financial management, preferably within a not for profit organisation Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and governance frameworks Demonstrated ability to lead financial strategy, budgeting, and compliance initiatives with a commitment to ethical financial stewardship.
A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence and support executive decision-making through well developed communication and management skills.
High-level communication skills and the ability to engage respectfully with diverse stakeholders A genuine commitment to cultural respect, inclusion, and working in partnership with Aboriginal communities Qualifications & Experience: · Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, or related field.
· Current membership with an Australian Accounting Body (e.g., CPA, CA ANZ).
· Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar senior finance role.
