This role plays a key part in enhancing the organisation's public profile, building relationships with stakeholders and supporting its overall advocacy agenda.The Advisor will produce the organisation's online newsletter, update the website and create compelling visual and written content for social media channels.
They will provide media support to the Executive Manager, Policy & Advocacy, and deliver external and internal communications as needed, including administrative documentation such as meeting agendas and minutes.
Overall, the Advisor will ensure that all communications align with the organisation's brand and strategic priorities.Important note: This role will require the successful candidate to work out of our Parramatta office four days a week.Main responsibilities include :Produce member facing communications including the monthly Business Western Sydney (BWS) newsletter, the Liverpool Innovation Precinct (LIP) newsletter, advocacy updates and other periodic communications Lead the organisation's presence in social media platforms Update the organisation's website as required Support communications, administration and stakeholder engagement for ongoing advocacy initiatives (including Liverpool Innovation Precinct, South West Sydney Alliance and Housing Now) Research and draft media releases, speech notes, op-eds and media comments as needed, supporting the Executive Manager, Policy & Advocacy Develop relationships with TV, radio and print media, including by maintaining contact lists for media release distribution and story pitches Support the development and execution of advocacy research, papers and campaigns To be successful in this role, you will have:At least five years of professional work experience Demonstrated experience in digital media, communications and/or journalism Appropriate tertiary qualification in journalism, digital media and/or communications, or relevant professional experience Stakeholder management, interpersonal and relationship building skills Familiarity with and ability to use digital content generation tools Attention to detail and ability to see tasks through to conclusion Demonstrated organisational, administrative and time management expertise Demonstrated service-oriented approach, enthusiastic, motivated, positive attitude, good initiative and a self-starter Understanding of NSW and Federal political systems and issues affecting Western Sydney Understanding of Australian media and social media landscape Demonstrated business acumen About the businessBusiness Western Sydney is a not-for-profit body representing a diverse membership of more than 140 of the region's leading organisations in business, industry, government and community.
