We deliver 28 key services to over 380,000 residents, including childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities, and aquatic centres.
Position Overview We are seeking a skilled HR Business Partner for a dynamic, generalist role combining strategic and operational HR responsibilities.
You will work closely with leaders across Canterbury Bankstown Council, providing expert guidance in Human Resource Management and Industrial/Employment Relations, fostering positive outcomes through strong partnerships and innovative HR support.
Key Responsibilities Provide advice on HR issues, awards, and legislation to HR and senior leaders.
Support leaders on HRM and IR/ER responsibilities, policies, and procedures.
Manage dispute resolution, grievances, disciplinary matters, and industrial issues.
Advise on reward, benefits, workforce planning, performance, and employee relations.
Negotiate salary expectations and employment outcomes.
Develop and review HR policies and procedures.
Build credible relationships and promote open communication.
Support the organisation's vision, values, and strategic goals.
Contribute to HR planning and manage HR projects.
Maintain HR systems and report on workforce trends.
Collaborate with other HRBPs for consistent practices.
Champion diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity.
Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract top talent.
Facilitate workshops and build industry networks.

Candidate Requirements Tertiary qualifications or relevant HR experience.
Strong generalist HR experience in an award-based environment.
Ability to interpret and apply Awards and legislation.
Experience resolving complex disputes and industrial issues.
Proactive and able to take initiative.
Desirable qualifications include Certificate IV Training and Assessment and SHL Psychometric Testing accreditation.
The salary starts at $104,465 (Grade H, Step 1) + Super, negotiable based on experience.
