About the role : The Director, Quality Preschools provides strategic and innovative educational leadership for the realisation of the Department for Education's strategic priorities for preschools.
The Director has comprehensive knowledge and experience of early childhood leadership, quality, regulation, compliance, curriculum, and pedagogy to guide quality improvement across the system and positions department preschools to meet or exceed the National Quality Standard.
The Director works in partnership with Education Directors and Local Education Teams to drive effective implementation of evidence-informed change, system-wide strategic objectives, reform and continuous improvement across preschools.
The Director works collaboratively with the Office for Early Childhood Development and the Future Education Models team to embed preschool reform initiatives in ongoing strategic and operational policy, procedures and practice and ensures that preschool leaders experience responsive and effective support for change and improvement.
They foster collaborative relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders to achieve both excellence and equity, to raise the profile of government preschools and position government preschools as a service of choice to strengthen public education pathways.
What we are looking for : Deep expertise in early childhood education theory, NQS, EYLF and play-based curriculum design Strong strategic planning and analytical skills with proven success in high-pressure environments Track record as a high-achieving educational leader focused on growth, equity and safety Experience building and leading diverse, high-performing teams with clear performance standards Excellent interpersonal skills including coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution Ability to engage stakeholders and community partners to achieve key outcomes Proven capacity to translate education policy into effective classroom and school practice Qualifications : Essential : An appropriate tertiary qualification including post-graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline desirable or relevant experience.
Experience leading in a large and complex organisation at an executive level, ensuring the translation of priorities into executed deliverables.
Special conditions : The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
