With a strong growth trajectory and plans for strategic acquisitions, the business is seeking a senior legal professional to lead its legal and governance function at a pivotal time.Job DescriptionReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Legal will lead the legal, regulatory, and governance agenda across the business.
This role will involve working directly with the Board, executive leadership, and operational teams to provide practical legal advice, while ensuring that appropriate structures are in place to support long-term growth and compliance.Key responsibilities will include:Leading commercial contract negotiations, ensuring commercial outcomes are aligned with the company's objectivesManaging regulatory obligations, including ASIC reporting and broader compliance mattersServing as Company Secretary, supporting governance and board processesOverseeing M& A activity, including leading smaller acquisitions and coordinating with external legal advisers on more complex transactionsEstablishing and embedding risk management and governance frameworks to support organic and inorganic growthProviding hands-on legal advice across the business, from strategic initiatives to operational issuesManaging a variety of ad-hoc legal matters as they arise in a fast-paced and evolving environmentThe Successful ApplicantYou will bring extensive legal experience gained in a leading commercial or M& A private practice environment, as well as demonstrated capability working in-house with high-growth organisations.You will hold an unrestricted Australian practising certificate and have the ability to work autonomously as the sole legal advisor in the business.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:A highly independent and goal-oriented mindset, with the ability to operate confidently across all levels of the organisationStrong organisational skills and the capability to manage competing prioritiesA commercial, solutions-focused approach to legal mattersThe ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where adaptability and sound judgement are essentialExcellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both executive and operational stakeholdersThis role offers the opportunity to build and lead the legal function of an ambitious, sustainability-focused organisation at a time of significant growth and transformation.Please note, that the company are based in Epping currently and as a key member of the leadership team, they want the Head of Legal to be on-site to handle queries from all staff members and to be engaged in in-person discussions.
Therefore, it is vital that applicants be willing and able to travel to the site in Epping regularly.
