Who Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Staff Specialist - General Medicine to work for the Department of Health across the North West region.
Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the Do H North West has major sites located approximately 50 km apart: the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).
The Department provides both acute and sub-acute general medicine, along with a range of medical sub-specialty services including outpatient care.
The department has a team of general medicine physicians with interests in Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Respiratory, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Geriatric Medicine, and Palliative Care.
The Department of Medicine holds accreditation with RACP, including basic and advanced physician training in general medicine.
NWRH is an accredited site for level 1 basic physician training, and MCH is an accredited secondment site for NWRH trainees.
Both sites are accredited for advanced training in general medicine and support overseas-trained physicians.
This position is ideal for highly skilled and motivated medical professionals passionate about improving healthcare and viewing challenges as opportunities.
You will play a key role in developing healthcare at both patient and system levels.
The Do H offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School.
You will be responsible for providing leadership and assisting with the delivery of undergraduate general medical education.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro-rata + 12% superannuation + salary packaging options.
Please note that access to the higher salary range ($300,216 - $310,389) depends on satisfying criteria outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Additional allowances and benefits may include:
Salary packaging benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment annually
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle
Allowance in lieu of private practice schemes (35%)
North West Retention Allowance (20%)
Professional Development Allowance up to $16,974 per annum
Travel and relocation assistance
Fitness Passport access for you and your family

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
