THIS IS A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME POSITIONTHIS POSITION IS BASED IN KENSINGTONAPPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE ATMIDDAY ON WEDNESDAY, 27 AUGUST 2025 The Nature-based Tourism Division is the point of contact for departmental staff and the tourism industry to facilitate sustainable, nature and culture-based commercial tourism and attractions on national, marine and conservation parks and reserves managed by the Parks and Wildlife Service.
The division leads by issuing and helping to manage a range of leases and licences including commercial operations licences, commercial leases, apiary permits, and commercial filming and events licences.
The division also provides advice to departmental staff and the tourism industry to facilitate tourism development and revenue-generating initiatives.
We currently have an opportunity for an Engagement Officer to join our team.
The Engagement Officer coordinates and delivers communications, media, and digital engagement initiatives to support the core functions of the Nature-based Tourism Division.
This role contributes to the development and implementation of high-quality strategies that enhance tourism experiences, promote departmental priorities, supports the department's engagement among stakeholders and the broader community.
It also supports relationships with commercial tourism operators and fosters strong, collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes in nature-based tourism.

Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria.
These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective communications plans (Level 6), or experience/ability to contribute to communication and marketing initiatives (Level 5), using a variety of mediums to engage target audiences and support strategic objectives.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (Level 6), or strong communication skills with the ability to prepare high-quality documentation (Level 5), including speech writing, strategic communications, Ministerial briefings, complaint resolution, and report writing.
Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills (Level 6), or ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships (Level 5), with a track record of providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders in government or corporate settings.
Demonstrated high-level contemporary communications skills (Level 6), or experience/ability to support digital, visual, and verbal communication delivery (Level 5), with a focus on media engagement and audience-specific messaging.
