  • Airworthiness Review Engineer within Fleet Support Engineering Team
  • Permanent, Full-Time position
  • Located at the Qantas Sydney Distribution Centre, Mascot

Qantas Engineering keeps us at the forefront of aviation, caring and maintaining both the Qantas fleet, as well as aircraft for our customers across the Asia-Pacific region. Working with state-of-the-art equipment and resources, our shared commitment to professional excellence continues to keep our customers safe.

Taking ownership is critical. Whether we're working individually or as a group, we challenge ourselves to make progress and deliver results. We understand our priorities and what needs to be delivered, taking the initiative to keep things moving. Navigating through our complex work environment, we bring teams and individuals together to deliver on our customers' expectations.

In your new role as an Airworthiness Review Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for investigating the airworthiness status of the Qantas fleet of aircraft via the airworthiness review processes. This will include review of aircraft / component / maintenance records, Maintenance Information System reports and carrying out Physical Surveys of aircraft. You will be required to complete review processes with accuracy and to strict deadlines to allow Airworthiness Review Certificates to be issued, contributing to the safety and operational availability of the Qantas fleet.

You will be responsible for identification of airworthiness compliance risks and you will contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes used to manage continuing airworthiness of aircraft to ensure they are robust and effective. In doing so, you will draw on your effective communication and problem-solving skills to work with other Engineering teams to deliver these responsibilities.

You'll have –

  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical or equivalent, as recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • A sound knowledge of certification, regulations and standards applicable to aircraft airworthiness.
  • The desire to acquire knowledge of the aircraft's certification basis, structure and systems.
  • Accuracy and high level of attention to detail.
  • Sound organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong demonstrated skills in problem solving and analytical thinking, both individually and as part of a team.
  • Proven organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Previous aviation experience working within a Continuous Airworthiness Management Organisation would be considered advantageous.

Why Qantas?

You'll join a team where creativity and passion are encouraged. Our people come together to allow us to dream big and deliver successfully.

There are many different opportunities across our team, which means you'll be able to grow both personally and professionally at Qantas. Your development is a priority for us – so that you can maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect and can continue to develop over time. You'll be supported from day 1 with on the job training and coaching as well as our formal training opportunities. While you may start in this role, we've got a great track record of supporting our people to take their career in so many different directions, the destinations are endless.

The Qantas employee benefits program offers amazing benefits that extend well beyond travel.

  • We love to travel: Enjoy heavily discounted air travel within Australia and across the globe, both for you and your family and friends, as well as exclusive deals on accommodation and holidays.
  • We have flexible leave options: Make use of leave and flexible working opportunities including 18 weeks paid parental leave (plus superannuation payments on all paid and unpaid parental leave until your child turns 1) and additional purchased leave options for eligible employees.
  • We'll give you access to thousands of rewards: Through our partnerships we can offer you discounts across shopping, food and wine, insurance, health and wellbeing, leisure and entertainment. You can also take advantage of our salary packaging program including motor vehicles, eligible portable electronic devices and professional memberships.
  • We'll support your wellbeing: Whether it's learning to better support your own and others' mental health, our interactive wellbeing app or your very own tailored nutrition plan.

Please note:

The Qantas Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion. By coming to work for us, you'll be part of an organisation that encourages diversity, supports charities and environmental initiatives. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and people of all backgrounds to apply. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at time of application. Your personal information will be kept confidential in compliance with relevant privacy legislation.

If you're up for an engineering challenge with strong motivation to contribute to Qantas's core sustainability objectives, register your interest and we'll be in touch.

Applications close: Thursday 11th of July 2024.
