Business Analyst

Come join a local council government agency out in the western suburbs as they are looking for their next Business Analyst to help them through different ICT internal projects and BAU matters. This is a permanent opportunity to join the team working across different projects. The client is ideally looking for potential candidates with 3 years year's experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Consultant or equivalent role.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.Identify, evaluate and recommend business process improvement options and implement if required. Collaborate with, and facilitate stakeholder groups, as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements.Seek to fully address client needs, enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited.Plan and drive scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives.Select, adopt and adapt appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Obtain input from, and formal agreement to, requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders.Negotiate with stakeholders and manage competing priorities and conflicts.Establish requirements baselines. Ensure changes to requirements are investigated and managed.Contribute to the development of organisational methods and standards.Analyse and design business processes; identify alternative solutions to exploit new technologies and automation.Develop graphical representations of business processes to facilitate understanding and decision making.Responsible for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisation changeCollaborate with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.Prepare business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, or information technology-related disciplineAt least 3 year's experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Consultant or equivalent roleStrong experience gathering, analysing, managing and documenting business requirements leading to successful design and implementation of ICT solutions.Extensive experience facilitating workshops and interviewsExperience creating user stories, customer/user journeys, requirement traceability matrices, business cases and other essential business analysis artefactsDesirable experience of local government related frameworks and solutionsExperience working with senior decision makersExtensive Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK ) knowledgeAdvanced Excel skillsKnowledge and experience in using management tools, such as Jira and confluence, and Microsoft PowerBI.
