About the role

Join our Pricing and Underwriting team as a Senior Actuarial Analyst and drive substantial impact through advanced data analysis. In this role, you'll apply your deep knowledge of the actuarial control cycle to optimise our commercial portfolio, enhancing its growth and profitability.

Your role will be pivotal in applying actuarial principles to address key business challenges, driving value creation, cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and the implementation of best practices. This entails active participation in delivering effective and profitable rating and underwriting strategies.

Your expertise will be utilised across various areas, spanning pricing and underwriting, as you take a lead role in refining crucial actuarial processes to meet regulatory requirements. Key priorities

Conduct analysis of risk rating and underwriting characteristics. Evaluate portfolio composition, trends, and deviations from expectations over time. Assist in implementing changes to pricing and underwriting systems. Compile and preprocess data for the development of predictive claims models. Recommend adjustments to rates based on model outcomes. Design, refine, and provide necessary reports for various business functions. Collaborate with business units to ensure timely delivery of service levels for individual client underwriting referrals. Contribute to the improvement of systems, including pricing and underwriting platforms, as well as overarching sales and policy systems.

Ways of Working

This position is available in Sydney (Pitt Street), Brisbane (Fortitude Valley), or the Sunshine Coast (Sippy Downs). Our work model involves a hybrid arrangement, with in-office presence required from Tuesday to Thursday across all sites, while providing the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

About you

You will have:

A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or a related field. Completion of Part I and Part II of Actuarial qualification. Progress towards Part III exams or possession of a postgraduate degree is advantageous. Experience in an actuarial role (3+ years). Proficiency in languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Strong knowledge of general insurance concepts. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills.
