In this role you will need to travel every alternate week to their mine via a company charter flight or a short flight from Adelaide airport. On the 2 alternate weeks that you would need to travel, it would be Monday to Thursday with an extra day off on Friday as off-in-lieu. The rest of the alternate 2 weeks will be standard office hours from Mondays to Fridays at their office in Adelaide CBD.

In this role you will assist the department heads to understand and drive financial performance through best practise commercial analysis with a focus on profitability and return on capital. You will ensure that costs are accurately budgeted, challenged, reported and made transparent for key stakeholders. You will need to implement systems and processes to support the commercial analysis, cost control and reduce administrative tasks. In addition, you will support month-end activities including accruals, re-allocation, valuation, entries, review & reporting. Besides doing accruals and allocations, you will also prepare and be involved with Heads of Departments in operational reviews presentations (dive into reasons why costs have moved and comment etc).

about the manager/team

This role reports to the Finance and Commercial Manager and you will work independently but in a cross-collaborative manner to Engineers and other colleagues who are not financially-minded to help them understand their costs in layman terms.

skills & requirements for the role

You must possess a CPA or CA, with very strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Knowledge in Power BI is essential and knowledge with Pronto is advantageous. You should also come equipped with a minimum 5 years of relevant Management accounting experience in a similar or related industry.
