The Business Development Executive is responsible for proactively developing an assigned account base and to develop and win new business in order to generate revenue in line with annual business plans and strategic sales revenue plans for the InterContinental Adelaide.
Your day-to-day:
Financial Returns
- Manage and grow client base to meet revenue targets in accommodation, catering, and F&B.
- Generate revenue from existing accounts and identify new potential accounts in Adelaide & SA markets.
- Promote IHG offers to assigned segments and accounts.
- Conduct quarterly reviews with Regional Sales and key decision-makers, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Meet sales activity targets set by the Commercial Director.
- Develop and execute a sales action plan, including client communication, sales calls, entertainment, trips, tradeshows, exhibitions, and site inspections.
- Conduct market research to monitor current and future trends, including competitor activities.
People
- Participate actively in all training sessions and complete pre and post-course work.
- Maintain relations with clients and strategic partners.
- Foster a proactive team approach with the InterContinental Adelaide hotel commercial team, broader hotel network, and IHG Regional/National Sales Offices.
- Maintain close working relationships with property management and operational staff.
- Understand and utilize IHG processes and systems, including Delphi, I-Know Reporting, Ezy-Message, Meeting Broker, I-RFP, and Sales Source.
Guest Experience
- Assist with familiarizations and entertainment as required.
- Keep accurate records of sales calls in Delphi.
- Support senior commercial leadership and the Executive Committee in ensuring quality product delivery and improving customer experience to maximize revenue and profit.
Responsible Business
- Collaborate with management on workplace health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Participate in investigations of workplace injuries and illnesses, recommending corrective actions.
- Facilitate hazard reporting to those who can implement corrective actions.
- Wear and maintain PPE as required and use other safety and emergency equipment according to safety procedures.
- Report workplace hazards, injuries, or illnesses to supervisors.
