About the Role - Head of Strength and Conditioning

St Aloysius' College is seeking a qualified and experienced Head of Strength and Conditioning (Head of S&C) specialist to lead the student athletic development and performance across a variety of sporting disciplines. The Head of S&C will partner with students, parents and staff in encouraging them on their sporting journey and motivating them in their pursuit of athletic excellence.

The successful candidate will possess relevant industry accreditation and knowledge in designing, implementing and evaluating strength and conditioning programmes tailored for school aged athletes, maximising their athletic ability within their desired sport, and lifting sporting standards across the College.

Reporting directly to the Senior School Sportsmaster, the Head of S&C will positively engage with the sports convenors and coaching staff, planning and integrating strength and conditioning programs for individual students and teams of all abilities, as well as educating and providing guidance on high performance methods, technique and training loads.

The ideal candidate will be a passionate and engaging professional with a proven track record and ability to utilise their strong technical knowledge to achieve high performance outcomes of individual students and within the team environment, whilst also establishing a strong culture of healthy and safety standards through the implementation and monitoring of systems and processes that comply with legislative and regulatory frameworks.

This is a full-time position commencing as soon as possible or as negotiated with the College.

About You

To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the Catholic Education of boys in the Jesuit Tradition;
  • Possess appropriate qualifications, e.g. Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science, or Bachelor of Human Movement or similar qualification of equivalence;
  • Accredited or working towards Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach;
  • Experience or demonstrated capacity in designing, implementing and evaluating an integrated sport specific strength and conditioning and athletic program for children and young adults aged 12 to 18;
  • Demonstrated experience working in a school environment or youth pathways program is advantageous;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary and best practice strength and conditioning programs across a range of sporting disciplines;
  • Strong understanding of the collection and use of data to analyse, report on and manage student progress;
  • Ability to successfully develop, implement and manage strength, conditioning, recovery and rehabilitation programs for senior school students;
  • Proven ability to facilitate a positive, encouraging and high-quality learning environment that meets the academic, social and emotional needs of all students;
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management and proven leadership in fostering a safety culture;
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with staff, students, parents and the broader College community;
  • Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills;
  • Commitment to elevating sporting standards across the College;
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check;
  • Strong commitment to child safeguarding principles.
