As Senior Procurement Manager for RWE Renewables in Australia you will be responsible to build up the local Procurement team, structure and strategy for the Australian market covering the whole value chain of Procurement – from Project to Category to Tactical Procurement activities for Onshore Wind, PV and BESS pipeline.

You and your team take full responsibility for developing Project as well as Category Procurement strategies to enable project deliveries in time, budget and quality; for negotiating all main CAPEX and EPC and/ or BoP contracts during the development and construction phase; and for optimizing our supply chain measures throughout the entire project life cycle. While working in an project-focused environment you bring additional value to RWE Australia by steering the Procurement function from a portfolio perspective and thus being able to advise on supply bottlenecks, pooling potentials and deliverables towards Procurement well in advance of the actual launch of a new development project.

In your capacity as Senior Procurement Manager – Australia you functionally report to the Director of Procurement Europe & Australia based in Europe and functionally to the CFO Australia.

Your future role:

  • Build and develop the local Procurement team by establishing structured ways of working, structured stakeholder communication and by managing all Procurement deliverables in a transparent manner.
  • Act as a consultant to the business on all supply chain related matters and provide clear guidance to the global and local management team as well as the project teams on the option space in case of contradicting requirements.
  • Establish trustworthy relationships with stakeholders and colleagues from the Australian as well as Headquarter entities.
  • Guide the local Procurement team to deliver Procurement responsibilities in time, budget and quality from a project as well as portfolio perspective.
  • Regularly provide a transparent Business status update to local as well as functional management indicating early on bottlenecks as well as proposed solutions.
  • Develop and implement:
    • An active supplier relationship management with suppliers for main components and services.
    • Purchasing strategies for all fields of supply in Australia in alignment with the European Procurement team enabling one voice to global suppliers.
    • Local content projects to strengthen the supply chain within Australia and relevant provinces.
  • In the area of Tactical Procurement implement efficient and compliant Purchase-to-Pay workflows in alignment with Accounting and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Sign off and take responsibility for CAPEX cost planning for new projects and grid interconnection works during prior and during financial investment decisions.

Your profile:

  • Several years of working experience in Procurement on an international level including proven leadership-, management- and project management skills; Consultancy background advantageous.
  • Engineering or Business economics degree, additional legal qualifications advantageous.
  • Experience in building up and scaling teams and organizations.
  • Several years of relevant experience in management and processing of large and complex tenders for EPC contracts and/or for power plant / industry or infrastructure projects (Capex / Opex) within Australia and internationally.
  • Strong strategic and commercial awareness about the value Procurement brings to a Project Development organization.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and effectively and maintain trustworthy relationships with stakeholders, colleagues and contractors.
  • Outstanding communication skills (spoken and written) in English - other languages advantageous (e.g. German).
  • Proven track record of guiding and developing multidisciplinary high-performance teams.
  • Intercultural understanding and experience in working with different cultures.
  • High level of resilience and ability to set priorities clearly for the team in line with business needs.
