About our Team

ALSPO is a Sustainment SPO delivering air mobility capabilities to support combat, humanitarian, diplomatic and peace-keeping operations. Our platforms and projects provide Air Mobility capability to Air Force and enhancing the RAAF's C-130J Hercules (RAAF Richmond) and C-27J Spartan (RAAF Amberley) aircraft.

The C-130J Hercules is a medium-sized tactical airlift, which can deliver cargo to airfields with short un-surfaced runways, and airdrop cargo and paratroops by parachute and is an important air link for Australian Defence Force personnel overseas. The fleet consists of 12 aircraft and one Level 5 simulator and operated by No.37 Squadron.

The C-27J Spartan is a Light Tactical Fixed Wing aircraft, operating in remote and austere environments with a useful payload and ability to operate from rudimentary airstrips. The fleet consists of 10 aircraft and is operated by No.35 Squadron and conducts regional peacetime operations such as humanitarian and disaster relief, search and rescue, aero-medical evacuation and airlift tasks.

ALSPO supports Defence to achieve its mission by providing sustainment solutions. Founded on a strong Air Force legacy we are resourced by ADF, APS and contracted support. The Defence Values underpin our behaviours and the organisation prides itself on an inclusive service delivery model. The team is resilient, adaptive and culturally capable and every individual acts with purpose for Defence and the nation. Our service values are the foundation to our identity.

Our team operates from RAAF Base Richmond, the position has the responsibility of being customer and personnel centric and will be required to work predominantly (4 days) in location. The Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is seeking a senior executive to lead, support and deliver essential capabilities for Air Force in support of Australia's national interests. Our ideal candidate is mindful of the critical contribution every individual makes toward the Air Mobility platforms we support and embodies the mindset of 'Service', where ones selflessness of character to place the security and interests of our nation and its people ahead of ones own is paramount to successful outcomes.

You must be a self-starter and strategic thinker who acts with a sense of urgency and delivers timely results. You should be adept at navigating complex management challenges with demonstrated ability to leverage a minimum 8-10 years of experience in a related field of business management and experience within complex organisations of comparable size and scale to Defence. You are enthusiastic about leading a substantial programme of change and service improvement in administrative and commercial workflows and business systems. You possess the confidence to be comfortable in the strategic space and have embedded skill to engage effectively with senior stakeholders. You can navigate complex organisational dynamics, whilst successfully leading a team to enhance their performance and delivery. You can demonstrate a willingness to make accelerated decisions, driving our service modernisation activities and adopt a risk based approach to deliver on our contribution to the priority areas under the Defence Strategic Review.

The right person for the role embodies a proactive and emphatic approach, is dedicated to optimising our processes and is committed to fostering a positive, productive workplace culture.
