The City of New York seeks a highly skilled and experienced attorney to serve as the Deputy Bureau Chief of the Homicide Bureau in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in responding to crime scenes, precincts, and other locations to support law enforcement agencies in their investigations.

  • Collaborate with the Bureau Chief to ensure the smooth functioning of the Bureau and efficient resolution of legal and administrative issues.
  • Work closely with NYPD, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies at all levels.
  • Provide guidance on charging decisions and collaborate with attorneys and police throughout the investigation process.
  • Conduct case conferences and reviews regularly.
  • Interact with members of the community and victims' families.
  • Respond to calls and/or scenes on a 24-hour basis.
  • Authorize plea offers and provide legal advice.
  • Handle a caseload efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform all other related duties and projects as designated.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining Homicide Bureau statistics.
  • Oversee preparation and presentation of cases to the grand jury.
  • Oversee long-term and complex investigations.

A Juris Doctorate degree and membership in good standing of the N.Y. State bar are required. Minimum of 10 years of trial experience, including 5 homicide trials as first chair, is also required. U.S. citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment.
