About the Role

Join the leadership team of the ABC's flagship morning TV program, ABC News Breakfast . Do you love coffee and a workday that is never the same as the one before? ABC News Breakfast is looking for a Supervising Producer to support the Executive Producer in leading the dedicated program team. This is one of two Supervising Producer roles attached to the program, and will work on an alternating roster across both ends of the day (It's not all early morning work)

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a supportive and creative environment.

In this key role, you will:
  • Help drive a digital-first approach to content that also services a linear TV audience.
  • Suggest ideas, angles, talent, and follow-up stories, and encourage discussion and debate among the team.
  • Formulate editorial approaches to help broaden and diversify content and identify ways to extend community reach.
  • Ensure the team produces concise, accurate and engaging copy, reflecting the tone of the program.
  • Apply live production skills to manage key broadcast, digital and mobile output.
  • Have practical use of editing and writing software to prepare content for on air and digital platforms.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with other ABC teams to deliver strong local content and achieve shared strategic goals.
  • Lead efforts to explore new ways of producing and presenting News content and contributing to a culture of excellence.
  • Oversee the editorial processes to ensure News Breakfast's video and digital output meets ABC Editorial Policy and community expectations.
About You

Think you can drive coverage of complex news stories one second, before turning your attention to name celebrities arriving at the Met Gala the next? We want to hear from you

This role would suit someone who works well in a fast-paced, live television environment. Creativity and team culture is as important to us as your strong news judgement. Experience using digital platforms to creatively grow brand recognition and audiences is advantageous. This role requires high level organisational and communication skills, as well as superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

You will also have:
  • Demonstrated creativity to present news in a way that is accessible for a wide audience in both a digital and linear television environment.
  • A wide knowledge base that spans domestic and international news, business, sport, and pop culture.
  • Demonstrated editorial judgement with the ability to lead a high-performing team.
  • Proven ability to juggle competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of news production in a multi-platform environment, including producing and commissioning video content for digital, mobile and broadcast platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify workflow improvements and the ability to manage change.
  • The ability to use audience data to drive decision-making.
  • Significant video production skills, with a working knowledge of a live television environment.
