About the Role

Join the management team of ABC News Breakfast, the ABC's flagship morning television program. Are you passionate about a dynamic work environment that offers new challenges daily? ABC News Breakfast is seeking a Supervising Producer to assist the Executive Producer in leading the dedicated program team. This role involves alternating shifts throughout the day (not solely early mornings).

This position presents an excellent opportunity to hone your leadership skills within a supportive and creative atmosphere.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Champion a digital-first content strategy catering to both online and traditional TV audiences.
  • Propose innovative ideas, story angles, talent suggestions, and follow-up stories, fostering team discussions and debates.
  • Develop editorial strategies to diversify content, enhance community outreach, and maintain concise, accurate, and engaging content aligned with the program's tone.
  • Utilize live production expertise to oversee essential broadcast, digital, and mobile outputs.
  • Utilize editing and writing tools to prepare content for various platforms.
  • Cultivate collaborative partnerships with other ABC teams to deliver compelling local content and achieve common goals.
  • Drive exploration of new approaches to news production and presentation, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Supervise editorial processes to ensure compliance with ABC Editorial Policy and community expectations regarding News Breakfast's video and digital content.

About You

Do you possess the ability to handle complex news stories one moment and pivot to covering celebrity events the next? We want to hear from you.

This role is ideal for individuals thriving in a fast-paced, live television environment. Our emphasis is on creativity, teamwork, and strong news judgment. Experience leveraging digital platforms to enhance brand visibility and audience engagement is desirable. The position requires advanced organizational, communication, problemsolving skills.

You should also demonstrate:

  • Creative flair for presenting news accessibly across digital and linear TV platforms.
  • Broad knowledge encompassing domestic and international news, business, sports, and entertainment.
  • Strong editorial judgment and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in deadline-driven settings.
  • Extensive expertise in news production across multiple platforms.
  • Capability to identify workflow enhancements and steer change successfully.
  • Aptitude in utilizing audience data for decision-making.
  • Proficiency in video production within live television environments.
