What you'll do:

As a Senior Media Officer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic communications agenda for the department. You will be part of a dynamic team where your skills in developing innovative media solutions will directly impact the departments outcomes for consumers. Your ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders will be crucial as you provide advice on proactive media strategy, issues management, and develop engaging content for various platforms.

  • Actively participate as a senior member of a team of media and communications professionals to develop and deliver innovative reactive and proactive media solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior management across various agencies and key stakeholders across the sector.
  • Provide advice to clients on proactive media strategy and delivery, and on issues management.
  • Develop media content for various platforms, including media responses, speeches, media plans and talking points.
  • Plan and develop proactive and reactive media strategies, including managing press conferences, for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish, build and maintain relationships with media outlets across Queensland to facilitate both proactive and reactive media outcomes.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering significant or complex communication, media or engagement projects within agreed budgets and timeframes.
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in partnership and build effective professional relationships.
  • Strong issues and crisis management skills, including the ability to effectively analyse complex information.
  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in a communication or project management context.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute positively to team culture.
