Social Policy in The Cabinet Office plays a central role in addressing strategic issues across a range of areas including health, housing, disability services, child safety, youth justice, multicultural affairs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy.

Your opportunity:


The Principal Policy Officer will work within a small team of experienced policy officers, dedicated to supporting each other to achieve the common goals of the department and public sector.

The role will be responsible for the Treaty and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships portfolio areas, and will work closely with the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts and Queensland Treasury to progress the Government's portfolio priorities.

You will be part of the 'engine room' of Government and help to drive strategic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy issues through:

  • Analysing complex policy issues and contributing ideas on solutions
  • Preparing a range of policy and briefing documents, including for Cabinet
  • Building collaborative relationships and representing the department across government
