CommBank's Commodity Operations team is looking for an Associate to join this high performing function and provide operational support to the Global Derivatives trading desks which operates within our Market Operations business.

Sitting within our Chief Operating Office (COO), our Market Operations business is a team of 400 Operations Professionals who support our Global Lending, Markets, CommSec, Trade Finance, Treasury and Payments businesses globally.


The Role.

You will join our Commodity Operations team which covers and supports both Derivative and physical Commodity trading activity across all commodity product types including; Carbon, Energy, Agriculture, Base Metals & Precious Metals.

This team provides global support for our trading desks covering Australia, New Zealand and Europe markets.

You will provide Trade Support to the front-office commodity desk by responding and resolving queries from both internal stakeholders and our customers as well as being responsible for commodity trade validation, settlement, reconciliation and inventory management for both physical and derivative commodities

On any given day you will:

  • Liaise closely with Sales and Trading teams to resolve any operational issues that might arise and provide general support when required
  • Ensure that daily reconciliations & all exceptions are followed up/resolved by the team in a timely manner with adequate audit trails
  • Oversight of title of ownership transfer for physical delivery trades
  • Maintain, develop and implement procedures that comply with the Bank's and industry standards
  • Manage and be the point of contact for structured transaction deals and CPI deals.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

Experience and knowledge within commodities operations or trade support with a keen interest on covering physical and derivative product types.

You will be passionate about global markets and will be someone who keeps up to date and informed on latest market developments in products, processing and confirmations standards

You will also have:

  • Experience covering either derivative or physical commodities from any sector or product type
  • A welldeveloped risk mindset, able to proactively identify and understand current and future risks
