About the role:


We are currently seeking a proactive and passionate Communications and Engagement Coordinator to lead, inspire, guide and support our small, highly productive team of communications and engagement specialists.


In this role you will be responsible for ensuring communications support is provided to teams across the organisation and guide a high level of communications and engagement planning and delivery.

This role requires someone who is passionate about developing others, and can provide leadership and guidance to a busy team.

You will be someone who can juggle changing priorities and be proactive, building a strong network internally and with key stakeholders to the always be front foot with projects, opportunities and issues.


You will work collaboratively as part of a larger Communications team to promote Council in a positive light, sharing the good stories of our city and ensuring a high level of engagement with community and stakeholders.

Council's small and highly skilled Communications team provides communications, engagement and marketing support and advice to teams across the organisation.

The team is responsible for the development and distribution of a range of digital and print communications and marketing materials and campaigns to positively promote Council's programs, events and initiatives, as well as delivering on a range of community engagement activities to ensure our community are consulted on key projects, opportunities and issues that affect them.


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive job related experience in communications, engagement, public affairs, marketing, journalism or a similar field.
  • Substantial and demonstrated experience in a government or corporate communications/marketing role, including skills in media liaison and issues management.
  • Proven experience providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to work as an effective and cooperative team member.
  • Commitment to role modeling our values of: Respect, Integrity, Optimism, Trust and Teamwork.
  • COVID19 vaccination or medical contraindication upon commencement (a verification will be conducted on recommended applicants)
