In the role of Principal Advisor (Procurement & Contracts), you will lead a range of procurement activities to support Customer Services Branch (CSB) services and products through undertaking tactical procurement.

This includes managing and advising on tendering and contract processes to ensure CSB compliance with Chief Procurement Office (CPO) guidelines, while providing professional and high level of customer service and responsiveness to internal and external clients.

You will also work closely with CSB Managers and Regional Teams to successfully manage contracts, ensuring that all parties' obligations are met through the adaptation and implementation of contract management frameworks.

You will play a key role in leading CSB's procurement function, including improving processes, forward planning, tools and capability across local delivery.

You will lead and support the development of sourcing strategies and contracts that align with Queensland Government priorities and policies.

Key knowledge areas include strategic procurement, negotiation, and management of contracts, and fit for purpose procurement governance and reporting.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the development, review and execution of contractual documentation for more complex, medium to high-risk contracts.
Review and prepare professional, well-structured and concise procurement documentation, providing clear instructions.

  • Work closely with suppliers to implement and successfully deliver performance management regimes.
Meet with suppliers to monitor, recommend improvements and manage performance matters including resolving disputes and performance issues.
Analyse supplier performance over the life of contracted services and formally document contract reviews.

  • Engage in successful negotiations.
Consulting and engaging with legal, financial and other parties as required.

  • Manage and provide advice of key risks, including the development and management of action plans to manage the risk at a contract level for large complex contracts.
This includes complex arrangements involving facilitating appropriate input from legal, technical and commercial specialists.

  • Review and interpret legislative requirements to ensure contract management policies and practices comply with the intent of the legislation.
