We are currently working with an educational institution based in the Eastern Suburbs. They are seeking an established Senior Manager with specialism in the Infrastructure & Cloud domain for a 3-year fixed term engagement.

As the Senior Manager you will have oversite of 2 direct reports and 21 indirect reports within the specific Infrastructure & Cloud divisions. Salary is set up to $175,000 with additional 17% percent Superannuation and the client operates a minimum three days per week on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a large team of professionals within the Infrastructure and Cloud technical functions, including planning and allocating staff resources, developing, coaching and mentoring employees and managing performance to deliver multiple programs.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to understand their strategic agenda and business needs to deliver fit for purpose Infrastructure and Cloud services that drive enterprise-wide reform.
  • Manage the delivery of appropriate resources balancing the complex and inter-dependent requirements across multiple functional areas, including storage, virtulization, data centre and Linux.
  • Provide strategic and tactical advice to support decision making and facilitate effective governance across Infrastructure and Cloud platforms.
  • Capture and analyse high-level needs, ensuring substantial improvements are made to their respective programs at every opportunity, and lead rigorous business submissions to influence sound investment decisions.
  • Lead the continuing transformation of the Infrastructure and Cloud capabilities, implementing relevant frameworks that integrate effectively with other capabilities to provide excellent customer outcomes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations and in keeping with industry best practices.
  • Promote the use of contemporary tools, approaches and methodology as they relate to Infrastructure and Cloud platforms.
  • Leverage domain, product and solution knowledge to translate strategies and needs into fit for purpose solutions and platforms.
  • Ensure proposed solutions and capabilities are in line with internal policy and that opportunities for system integration, interoperability and shared infrastructure are identified and appropriately adopted within the technical functions in the Infrastructure and Cloud domain.
  • Apply high-level change management expertise to ensure that stakeholder needs are addressed and that the processes designed to do so are fit for purpose.
  • Lead and promote the development of cooperative and productive working relationships within internal and external stakeholders to enhance capability support and service delivery.

Required Skills & Specialisms:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in computer science, project management, business or an associated discipline and extensive relevant experience.
  • Extensive management experience and proven management expertise, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, manage and motivate staff at all levels of technical, service and managerial skill within a matrix environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills coupled with exceptional consultative and negotiation skills to enable effective understanding of business needs and ICT enabled business process reform.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor staff through change, harnessing strengths and abilities to effect positive change outcomes.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to prepare and deliver technical and business papers, reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Exceptional analytical, reporting and systems-based problem-solving expertise with the ability to implement strategic solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding of contemporary tools for managing ICT systems and delivering technical solutions.
  • Understanding of and empathy with the academic mission and strategic endeavours of the Higher Education sector and knowledge of the policy environment, culture, structure, and operation of universities is desirable.
  • Certification in appropriate research and IT frameworks
