About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas of criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 27 offices.

About the role
We currently have one ongoing full-time vacancy at our Blacktown Legal Aid office as an Aboriginal Field Officer.

The primary purpose of the role is to:

  • Ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are informed of their legal options and assist in addressing their unmet legal needs
  • Assist solicitors and administrative staff to develop, coordinate, facilitate and implement outreach services, community legal education sessions and engagement with Aboriginal communities
  • Assist the Solicitor in Charge, Office Manager, Regional Program Coordinators and Solicitors on local community issues that may arise.

You should be able to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds and with relevant stakeholders and service delivery partners.

The essential requirements for this role

You must:
- be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before you start work with us
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
- have a valid Driver's Licence


The Family Law Division have a number of roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working With Children Check.

You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
